About

There is a book by Brennan Manning called the Ragamuffin Gospel. The fourth chapter of his book is entitled tilted halos.

We wear a tilted halo when we turn from the mistrust of our legalistic religion to the unconditional love and acceptance of Jesus Christ. We wear our tilted halos when we acknowledge our poverty of spirit, our powerlessness and helplessness as paupers at the door of God’s mercy who lay hold of our nothingness before God, unable to redeem any part of ourselves by good works or scrupulous observance of the law. And lastly we wear our tilted halos when we live in transparent honesty before ourselves, others, and God.
